The aim of this paper is to analyse the Tsurezuregusa Gakan (The picture scroll of Tsurezuregusa) which is possessed by The University Art Museum-Tokyo National University of Fine Arts and Music. This Gakan contains fifty three illustrations to Tsurezuregusa (Tsurezure E), one of them being drawn by Torii Kiyonaga. Kiyonaga's Tsurezure E has not been known.
The characteristics and artistic values of the Tsurezuregusa Gakan discussed in this article are summarized in three points: first, the pictures were painted in the manner of Haiku pictures, secondly, to make the scroll many artists were involved, and lastly, compared to other pictures of Tsurezuregusa, the composition and the depiction of these pictures are unique in artistic individuality.
