Due to the spread of COVID-19, opportunities for online lessons using on-demand and simultaneous interactive methods have increased in the Open University of Japan since the spring of 2020. Because it is difficult for students to get a sense of unison and realism in online lessons, instructors must create special materials, lesson schedules, and teaching practices for stabilizing the Web environment during these lessons. This puts a heavy burden on teachers.
The introduction of the Teaching Assistant(TA)will reduce this burden.
Hiring students who aim to become clinical psychologists as TAs, and having them participate in lessons, expands the possibilities of psychological practice in education. It is important to impose training and meetings on Teaching Assistants in advance so that students can take classes with peace of mind. At the same time, it is key that instructors accurately convey the clinical psychological perspective to their TAs.
