This paper aims to analyze changes in the female college graduate labor market in Japan from the 1960s to the 1980s. Japan, as a developed country, experienced a rapid expansion of higher education during the 1960s. After the oil shock of 1973, however, the quantitative development of higher education was restricted by governmental policy and planning. Nevertheless, the labor force in Japan has been gradually upgrading its educational level since then. The female college graduate labor market is changing due to the increase of supply of college educated workers.\n A hypothesis examined in this paper is that the development of the female college graduate labor market has been affected both by the supply of college graduates and by external changes such as economic ones. Female college graduates were not considered core workers in the Japanese labor market under the lifelong employment and age seniority system. Traditional female labor in Japan was restricted to certain kinds of occupations, such as teaching and nursing. Another function of traditional women's higher education in Japan was to create educated housewives. However, this traditional view of women's higher education has been affected by changes in the female labor market.\n Factors of growth of the female college graduate labor force are identified by decomposition analysis and by regression analysis. The main findings are as follows :\n(a) Female college graduates engaged in office work are increasing as they come to replace high school graduates.\n(b) Female college graduates engaged in professional occupations are increasing rapidly because these occupations themselves are growing rapidly.\n(c) However, female college graduates engaged in traditional professional occupations, such as teaching in various educational levels, are decreasing in the 1980s.\n(d) Female college graduates are getting jobs in a wide variety of occupations. In particular, the growth of engineering is outstanding.\n(e) The increase and decrease of female college graduates are affected by external factors such as the GNP. The female college graduate labor force is unstable and changing rapidly. We need a reform of college education to adapt to these changes."}]},"item_creator":{"attribute_name":"著者","attribute_type":"creator","attribute_value_mlt":[{"creatorNames":[{"creatorName":"小林, 雅之"},{"creatorName":"コバヤシ, マサユキ","creatorNameLang":"ja-Kana"}],"nameIdentifiers":[{"nameIdentifier":"9082","nameIdentifierScheme":"WEKO"}]},{"creatorNames":[{"creatorName":"Kobayashi, Masayuki","creatorNameLang":"en"}],"nameIdentifiers":[{"nameIdentifier":"9083","nameIdentifierScheme":"WEKO"}]}]},"item_files":{"attribute_name":"ファイル情報","attribute_type":"file","attribute_value_mlt":[{"accessrole":"open_date","date":[{"dateType":"Available","dateValue":"2013-06-14"}],"displaytype":"detail","filename":"NO_11-47-74.pdf","filesize":[{"value":"2.3 MB"}],"format":"application/pdf","licensetype":"license_note","mimetype":"application/pdf","url":{"label":"NO_11-47-74","url":"https://ouj.repo.nii.ac.jp/record/7326/files/NO_11-47-74.pdf"},"version_id":"d105c076-2f80-448d-9b88-fe0b65af63e5"}]},"item_language":{"attribute_name":"言語","attribute_value_mlt":[{"subitem_language":"jpn"}]},"item_resource_type":{"attribute_name":"資源タイプ","attribute_value_mlt":[{"resourcetype":"departmental bulletin paper","resourceuri":"http://purl.org/coar/resource_type/c_6501"}]},"item_title":"女子高等教育卒労働市場の構造変動分析","item_titles":{"attribute_name":"タイトル","attribute_value_mlt":[{"subitem_title":"女子高等教育卒労働市場の構造変動分析"},{"subitem_title":"An Analysis of Structural Changes in the Female College Graduate Labor Market in Japan","subitem_title_language":"en"}]},"item_type_id":"10002","owner":"3","path":["451"],"pubdate":{"attribute_name":"公開日","attribute_value":"2013-06-14"},"publish_date":"2013-06-14","publish_status":"0","recid":"7326","relation_version_is_last":true,"title":["女子高等教育卒労働市場の構造変動分析"],"weko_creator_id":"3","weko_shared_id":3},"updated":"2023-06-20T16:16:34.166757+00:00"}
