The present thesis tries to find out relations with Tsurezuregusa in his works and consider the influences by Tsurezuregusa upon the mental development and writing activities of Waki. It mainly deals with two books by Waki, that is, 見し世の人の記 Reminiscences of People of Old Days and 歳闌漫語 Idle Talks at the End of the Year (Sairan Mango). The former is a memoir written when Waki was forty-two and forty-three years old; the latter is a book of essays composed toward the end of his twenty-third year.\n　This thesis analyses these books in order to illustrate how much Tsurezuregusa infiuenced upon the style, contents and expressive methods of Waki's literary writings. In the history of Japanese literature, Tsurezuregusa played a very important role as model of modern criticism both in Waki's times and after.
